John S. Avery, Sr.

John Avery received his BA from the University of Texas at Austin in 1968 and his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1970.  He practiced law in Austin for 34 years before moving his law office to Round Rock in 2004.  John's practice is focused on real estate development and related real estate issues.  He has been married to Judy Avery for 36 years and they have three children, Julie (32), Jana (30) and John Jr. (28).  John is currently serving the Round Rock community as a member of the Metro Board of YMCA of Greater Williamson County, the Board of the Old Settler's Association of Williamson County, the Board of the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce, and as a founding member of the Greater Round Rock Community Foundation.  John and Judy were both born and raised in Austin, and John's family has been involved with Round Rock since 1854.

"It is important to give something back to the community that has been such an important part of my life, and to ensure that worthy citizens will have equal opportunity to share in the success of Round Rock regardless of their station in life.  My hope is that the Foundation will be able to raise civic awareness of the necessity and benefits of philanthropy and in doing so, Round Rock will continue to be a safe, nurturing and vital community."   John S. Avery, Sr.
