Charles N. Avery III

Charles Avery's ties to Round Rock go back to the 1850's when his great grandparents (the Nelson family) immigrated to Texas from Sweden and created one of the premiere ranching and farming operations in the area.  Charles was born and raised in Austin and graduated from St. Edwards University in 1966.  After serving in the Army for three years, Charles began a long career in banking and construction.  He served as a National Bank Examiner with the Office of the U.S. Comptroller of Currency for 7 years in Houston and was in the regional office in Dallas.  Charles then became the executive Vice President and Senior Lending Officer of the United States National Bank in Galveston where he served on the Board of Directors of the bank, the Bank holding company and the Trust Audit and Trust Investment Committees for several years.  He also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Sugar Land State Bank for 13 years.  In addition to his banking career, Charles was also involved with a number of commercial, industrial and petrochemical construction projects in the Houston area.  In 1990, Charles and his wife of 40 years, Beth, welcomed the opportunity to move back to Round Rock to become more involved in Avery family business interests here in the Austin area.  They have thoroughly enjoyed their return and are very active in the community supporting various worthwhile projects including Williamson County Capital Idea.

"I believe that the Community Foundation provides a wonderful opportunity to help promote and mobilize additional support and investment in the greater Round Rock area.  The Foundation will a useful vehicle to help raise community and individual awareness of needs and opportunities for investment and support for many worthwhile activities and programs in the greater Round Rock area."
