Community Fund Formed at Greater Round Rock Community Foundation

April 28, 2008 - As Mayor Nyle Maxwell passes the mayoral gavel in May; the Round Rock community can be assured that he will not be retiring from public service. Instead, of focusing on City Hall, Mayor Maxwell's time, treasure and talents will be re-focused on furthering the mission of the Greater Round Rock Community Foundation - to inspire philanthropy and build a permanent endowment to fund support of local needs.

The Board of Governors of the Greater Round Rock Community Foundation has recently formed the Community Fund just for this purpose. And as many have recently asked about sending a thank you gift to the mayor, Mayor Maxwell has asked that in lieu of personal gifts to commemorate his service, donations be made to this fund.

The Community Fund will address a broad range of local needs-including future needs that often cannot be anticipated at the time the gift is made. The Foundation evaluates all aspects of community well-being: arts and culture, economic development, education, environment, health and human services, historic preservation, and more. The flexibility of a gift to the Community Fund enables the Foundation to respond to the community's most pressing needs, today and tomorrow.

The Community Fund supports long-term solutions; allows the Foundation to respond quickly to emergencies; and meets changing social, cultural, educational, or environmental needs in Round Rock. A donor may give a gift of cash or stock immediately or may give through their will or other estate planning strategy. If a donor chooses to endow their gift, it becomes a permanent community funding resource.

According to Mayor Maxwell, "I have been honored to serve Round Rock these past six years and will continue to work for the betterment of our community through the Greater Round Rock Community Foundation. The citizens of Round Rock will honor me with any gift made to the Community Fund."
